The Axehead Journal is an avant-guarde rock act based in London, UK, whose inspiration draws from the modern and ultra-mediated consumer society. As its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Guigz remains solely responsible for its direction. The Axehead Journal’s concept has developed through various release formats, incarnations and line-ups. Its music retains a characteristic, percussive rock-based sound incorporating electronica, soundscapes, and various sampling techniques.
2012 now sees the release of ‘Desert Soul’ an 8’42’’ epic new single as Guigz describes: "it is complex, it is big and epic... I am very exited and hopefully fans will be too ! This one took over my life for some weeks, but now it is all done, and we got Sterling Sound on the case for the final mastering, which is very cool. It is definitely a step forward as I meant to do a tune that sounds like ‘Desert Soul’ for years. We have some cool stuff in the pipeline we are preparing for the release, stay tuned !" - Guigz
lyrics
No mind at ease
I need a lil' trip
Beyond the walls, built over years
No time to rest or pack myself
The horizon is waiting for me
